This page is your guide to seasonal and H1N1 flu resources, beginning with what to do to keep healthy, and what to do if you experience flu symptoms. This page will be updated as needed to help the Knox College community stay healthy.
If you think you have the flu:
The Health Center is open during regular clinic hours. If you think you might have the flu and need medical care, be sure to contact your health care provider or the Knox Health Center right away.
Get the vaccine when it becomes available:
The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend that everyone receive a flu shot.
Both the IDPH and the CDC recommend everyone six months and older receive the flu vaccine. People at high risk of serious
flu complications, including those with chronic health conditions like asthma, diabetes or heart and lung disease should make getting vaccinated a priority.
Stay healthy and practice the the 3C's of prevention:
The Knox community is encouraged to get the vaccine and to take precautions to avoid getting or spreading the flu and to continue practicing the 3 C's of prevention:
Clean - wash your hands frequently to prevent the spread of germs;
Cover - your cough and sneeze with a tissue or sleeve, not your hand; and
Contain - contain your germs, stay home if you are sick.
Knox has installed hand sanitzer dispensers in academic buildings and common areas on campus.
