International students are invited to participate in an Intensive English Language Program from August 24 to September 6, prior to International Student Orientation.
If your first language is not English, the program will be an excellent opportunity to improve your English language skills. The program will offer 10 days of course instruction to develop all English language skills, with particular emphasis on college-level writing and speaking. The course will be taught by a language specialist and writing tutors will assist students both inside and outside of class. Upon successful completion of the program, students can earn .5 credits.
In addition, the Intensive English Language Program will also provide opportunities to learn about Knox's academic and residential culture, make new friends, and explore Galesburg and surrounding communities before orientation begins. All enrolled students will take a trip to Chicago on the weekend of August 30-31.
The program is not mandatory, but is strongly encouraged for students whose first language in not English. The comprehensive program fee is $1,200 USD, and will be billed directly to your student account. The fee will cover language instruction, meals, accomodation, transportation to off-campus excursions, and social programming.
If you would like to participate, please enroll by using the Intensive English Language Program Registration on your applicant status page.
