National Merit Scholarships

Knox College sponsors National Merit Scholarships of $1,000 to $2,000 per year for students who are selected by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation as National Merit Finalists.

Students who achieve Semi-finalist or Finalist standing in the National Merit Scholarship program are also eligible to receive Knox academic scholarships. Semi-Finalists are eligible for Knox academic scholarships of at least $12,000 per year. Students who are named Finalists and list Knox as their first-choice college can receive Knox academic scholarships up to $16,000 per year and are eligible for a Knox sponsored National Merit Scholarship of up to $2,000.

To be considered, candidates must be recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation and complete a Knox application for admission by February 1.

National Merit Scholarship Application Requirements:

  • Apply for admission by February 1.
  • Notify the National Merit Scholarship Corporation that Knox is your first choice by mid-April.

Notification
Candidates are notified of their Knox academic scholarship awards at the time of admission. National Merit Scholars are notified of their National Merit Scholarship awards by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation in April.

General Scholarship Guidelines
Scholarship candidates must be admitted to Knox and be citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Scholarship recipients often qualify for additional need-based financial assistance, including grants, work-study programs and loans. Scholarships are renewable annually as long as recipients remain in good academic standing.
