Accessing Library Resources from Off-Campus

All library subscription resources are available to Knox College students, faculty and staff from off-campus. If you are not connected to the Knox network, you may still use library databases, electronic journals and other subscription resources.

To connect to a subscription resource simply click on the link to the database (or other resource) from the Library's website. These links have the proxy server address embedded.

You will then be prompted to authenticate yourself to the proxy server.

proxy server login

Do that by entering your Knox email ID and password. If your email ID and password are valid, you will gain access to the database /resource you selected.

To create links for web and Moodle pages that allow Knox constituents access to library subscription resources, your links must contain the stem for the proxy server. Precede a URL that you get from a subscription resource with the following proxy server stem.

http://ezproxy.knox.edu:2048/login?url=

For instance, the base URL for Choice Reviews Online is http://cro2.org so to make this resource available via the proxy server, add the proxy server stem to it, like this:

http://ezproxy.knox.edu:2048/login?url=http://cro2.org

Access to Databases Requiring a Password

Some databases require a password. A reference librarian can advise you on selecting the most appropriate database for your research. Please contact the reference desk at Seymour Library (x7228) to talk with a librarian about your research and/or to obtain database login information.
