One of the most beautiful and comfortable college libraries in the nation, Seymour Library offers superb academic support and research services for Knox College students and faculty.
The Knox libraries house more than a quarter-million bound volumes and subscribe to over 12,000 print or online periodicals. The catalog is available on the web, as is access to numerous online reference sources, bibliographic and full text databases, and information services such as Lexis-Nexis.
On the second level, the Muelder, Finley, Standish and Bookfellow Rooms maintain the distinctive ambiance of the early 20th Century.
The Muelder Room (photo, below) is a stunning space that contains books on art, while the paintings above the shelves depict presidents of Knox College. It is occasionally used for college events and public lectures.
Study options in Seymour Library include expansive carrels, along with historic and contemporary reading rooms, such as the Cecil Reading Room. The library also provides individual offices for students conducting extended research projects.
High-tech research resources, expert staff and user-friendly facilities combine to yield a student-satisfaction ranking that puts Seymour Library among the best college libraries in the nation.
Additional campus libraries include the Kresge Science Mathematics Library and the music library in Ford Center for the Fine Arts.
