Globalization is an unparalleled economic and political force. Advances in technology, reductions in transportation costs, and declining government barriers to trade and investment have all increased the integration of international markets. The Center for Global Studies strives to bring an understanding of this complex, multi-faceted process to the Knox community by sponsoring speakers and providing other on-campus initiatives as well as facilitating off-campus programs for Knox students and faculty that support the international aspects of Knox's educational program.
Speakers The Center sponsors distinguished guest speakers and scholars-in-residence who meet with Knox faculty and students. Recent discussions and presentations include: "Crisis in the Crosshairs: Lessons from the Gulf," Panel Discussion "Prosperity in a Global Economy," Panel Discussion "Reflections of an African Poet and Dramatist," Kithaka wa Mberia, African poet and linguist
Caterpillar Distinguished Lecture Series In 2003, the Center received a grant from the Caterpillar Foundation to fund public lectures at Knox by renowned experts in global affairs.
