Priority Projects

Robert W. Murphy Professor in Political Science Bob Siebert with students in his class.Whether renovating Knox's historic buildings, like Alumni Hall; adding new facilities to the campus, such as the E. & L. Andrew Fitness Center; or recruiting dedicated professors, like the new endowed chair in earth sciences, finding the most effective ways to meet the needs of faculty and students is always the first consideration when developing priority projects. New or renovated buildings and enhancements to the College's strong academic program are the direct result of the generous support of donors.

The College's current priority projects are:

Top Priorities

  • Faculty Salary Initiatives
Knox's talented and dedicated faculty is the College's most precious -- and most costly -- resource. One of Knox's highest priorities is recruiting and retaining a faculty of bright and dedicated professors who mentor, teach, and inspire students through Knox's celebrated student-faculty interaction. Opportunities exist to endow a faculty chair, academic research or travel, or to enhance faculty salaries.
  • Alumni HallAlumni Hall
Alumni Hall's vast central auditorium, exposed as a result of the interior demolition completed as part of the preliminary phase of the renovation, is only one of the many special spaces that will be restored to new life as Alumni Hall reclaims its vitality and signature position in the life of the campus.
Other Projects
  • Fitness & Athletics Initiatives
Seven of 10 projects to expand and enhance campus fitness and athletics facilities have now been completed.
    • A $2.4 million state-of-the-art fitness center on the west side of Memorial Gymnasium is now open.
    • A sprinkler system was added to T. Fleming Fieldhouse in summer 2005, making the building usable for campus and public events.
    • Renovations to other athletic spaces, such as Knox's outdoor track and field complex, weight room, soccer facilities, Knosher Bowl, and Memorial Gymnasium, have made these venues new once again.
