Expected graduates and families may find information you need to know for Commencement 2008 below. Check back often for updated information. Tickets All graduating seniors will be allotted ten tickets. The college recommends all visiting families and friends have a ticket to gain access to ceremony seating, to gain admittance if the ceremony moved indoors due to severe weather, and for the luncheon following the ceremony. In our attempt to accommodate all attendees with seating, we are asking our graduates to only request as many tickets as you need (maximum ten). If you have four family members attending, please only request four tickets plus the one ticket for yourself. We appreciate your honesty in this matter. Tickets will be distributed by the Alumni Office during Senior Week (June 2-6, 2008). Grad Fair The Grad Fair will be held on April 8 and 9, 2008, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Lincoln Room of the Seymour Union. The Grad Fair is the one-stop-shop for all of your Commencement needs. A representative from Jostens will be available so you can try on your cap and gown set and purchase it (it is yours to keep after Commencement). The Grad Fair is also your opportunity to get your paperwork in order with the Registrar's Office so you can graduate, update your home address with the College so your Commencement photo is sent to the correct place, order announcements, and check out class rings. If you would like additional information about your cap and gown, announcements and class ring options contact Jostens or call directly at 800-854-7464. If you missed the Grad Fair in April, please contact Jimmy Stewart (jstewart@knox.edu) as soon as possible to arrange for acquiring a cap and gown. An Invitation to Your Family A formal invitation to attend Commencement will be mailed from the Office of Campus Life to the home addresses of Knox's seniors in March. The mailing will include maps and hotel listings, photographer information, Video ordering information, and details regarding the Grad Fair event. If the Office of the Registrar has "flagged" you as EXPECTED to graduate, your family will receive the invitation. Lodging and Accommodations for Your Family and Guests If your out of town family and guests have not yet secured lodging accommodations for the weekend of the ceremony please encourage them to do so as soon as possible. Most of the Galesburg area accommodations are presently booked. Look through a list of Galesburg motels that may still have accommodations available. This page also offers links to accommodations in Peoria and the Quad Cities. Photography Knox College has contracted for professional photographers from Heart of America/Chappell Photography to capture your special moment on film. As you cross the stage and receive your diploma, your picture will be taken. A proof of that photo will be sent to your home address over the summer and will be available for ordering. Video Knox has contracted a videographer to record the ceremony; students, families and guests are able to purchase a copy on the day of the ceremony. The order form may be downloaded at this website (http://www.videomediaproductions.net/08form.pdf), printed, and mailed to the address on the form for ordering. Dress Code There is no official dress code for the Knox College Commencement ceremony. However, Knox does ask that the graduates dress appropriately for the occasion, including footwear. You will be walking through grass and then across a stage, so please wear shoes that you will not fall, slip or trip in. Students on Off Campus Programs If you are currently on an Off Campus Program for Spring 2008 and will be unable to attend the Grad Fair, e-mail Jimmy Stewart with your height and weight so he can order your cap, gown and tassel for you. At Commencement rehearsal you will have the opportunity to pay for your cap and gown set, as well as pick up your Commencement tickets. Graduation Status If you did not verify graduation status at the Grad Fair, please see the Office of the Registrar.
