Student Commencement Information

Congrats on your upcoming graduation! Knox faculty and staff are here to help you and your family prepare for the big day. This page will guide you through the essentials -- from getting your cap and gown to finalizing paperwork with the Registrar.

Caps and Gowns
Caps and gowns can be purchased by contacting Kathleen Drake. Both are made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic bottles, saving an average of 23 plastic bottles (per cap/gown) from the landfill.

Rehearsal
Commencement rehearsal will happen at 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 6, on the South Lawn of Old Main. It is mandatory if you plan to participate in the Commencement ceremony on Saturday, June 7. The severe weather location is T. Fleming Fieldhouse. The to-be-released Commencement Week schedule and Senior Week schedule will have a complete timeline of events.

Dress Code
There is no official dress code for the Commencement ceremony. However, we recommend dressing appropriately for the occasion, including footwear. You will be walking through grass and then across a stage in your gown, so please wear shoes that you will not fall, slip, or trip in.

Procession and Lineup
Graduates will line up at 9:15 a.m. on Commencement day in the lobby of CFA. The severe weather location is T. Fleming Fieldhouse.

Ceremony Tickets and Picnic Lunch
Tickets are only required if the ceremony is moved indoors (T. Fleming Fieldhouse) due to severe weather. You can receive a maximum of 10 free tickets, which will be available during Senior Week from Alumni Relations (located next to Williston across from TKE) -- watch for an e-mail the week before Senior Week. A picnic lunch will be served after the ceremony on the South Lawn. You may purchase the lunch tickets online; they will be available until midnight on Wednesday, June 4.

Announcements and Memorabilia
Commencement memorabilia -- from class rings, diploma frames, and graduation annoucements -- is available for purchase through With Honors Graduation Services, our approved vendor.

Photography and Video
Personal photography is allowed. In addition, a professional photographer will capture you receiving your diploma. More information on professional photography and video will be released closer to the event.

Residence Hall Check-Out
Please check out of your residence hall/apartment by 1:00 p.m. Sunday, June 8. Keys must be returned to Campus Security.
