The Knox College Chess Club hosts a number of exciting events. The club's annual St. Valentine's Day Blitz Massacre Tournament challenges the traditional view of long, boring games and turns chess into a fast-paced battle of wills. The Knox College Champions Tournament during spring term places the best against the best.

The club's functions extend off campus as well. In the past, the Knox Chess Club has been invited to tournaments at the University of Illinois and has held intercollegiate matches with Bradley University/Greater Peoria Chess Association and Beloit College.
