Chemistry Club

The Knox College Chemistry Club welcomes anyone with a fun-loving interest in chemistry.

At Knox, there are many ways for you to explore the flourishing science community on campus. If you're interested in chemistry, check out the Knox Chemistry Club to learn more about this fascinating branch of science.

The American Chemical Society

As a Student Affiliate of the American Chemical Society, the professional organization for chemists, the Chemistry Club brings opportunities to campus for a range of students. As an affiliate, an important aspect of the club is that it is run by students. Members of the club have many opportunities, including:

  • preparing for successful careers in the field of chemistry
  • gaining recognition in the scientific community
  • networking with acclaimed chemists and other students in the field
  • gaining experience working in chemistry
  • beginning to decide which path to take after college

Past events

  • Movie screenings
  • Sponsoring recycled art competitions
  • Field trips
  • Chemistry demonstrations open to the community and focused on getting elementary school children interested in chemistry early in their education
  • Bringing speakers to campus in conjunction with other clubs. Past speakers include:
    • Wally Funk, one of the first American women to undergo astronaut testing
    • Martha Ackmann, the author of a book about the "Mercury 13" program
Chemistry Club hopes to bridge the gap between the Knox science community and that of Galesburg by holding chemistry lectures and demonstrations open to everyone. Join the club and discover the joys chemistry.
