About the College
Founded in 1837, Knox has a distinguished heritage of shared learning and independent thought that shapes those who become a part of the College. Knox is proud of its tradition as one of the first coeducational colleges in America, the first college to grant Abraham Lincoln an honorary degree, and a leader in opening its doors to black students. Knox has an enrollment of 1,351 students, which includes students from 46 states and 50 countries. Knox College is a highly selective, private, four-year coeducational liberal arts institution.

Services to Consider

Career Services
Knox's Center for Career and Pre-Professional Development is a centralized operation responsible for all placement activities for all departments of the college. The office serves students seeking full time employment, internships or those desirous of entering graduate school.

The office assists students in developing the skills necessary for rewarding placement by offering career and job-search counseling, workshops and seminars, career resource materials, practice interviews and individual assistance in resume preparation.

Placement services for employers include on-campus interviewing, publication of employment vacancies and direct referrals of qualified placement registrants, including alumni.

The Center for Career and Pre-Professional Development staff at Knox College are professionally trained and eager to become actively involved in each and every recruiting situation. The staff work on an individual basis with each organization that wishes to recruit at Knox. Because we want to provide our students with the best opportunities, we will work hard to make your recruiting experience at Knox positive and rewarding. During your visit, please feel free to ask any member of the staff for assistance or information.

On-Campus Interviewing
Appointments between you and your representatives and our students and alumni will be arranged to your specific instructions. Interviews are normally scheduled between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, from October through May. Thirty-minute interviews are customary; however, arrangements for longer or shorter interviews can be easily arranged with sufficient advance notice.

It is recommended that a convenient date be selected at least two weeks in advance for a recruiting visit. This permits our staff to properly advertise and publicize the visit.

Recruiting Arrangements
In order to assure optimal publication and promotion of your visit, complete the online recruitment information form. It should be completed in detail and returned promptly to the Center for Career and Pre-Professional Development . This will allow the center to publish and distribute accurate recruiting schedules and monitor sign-ups to insure that candidates meet your needs.

Interviews are scheduled on an open sign-up basis. This permits students to review specific fields of interest, obtain available literature, and select a convenient appointment time. Correspondence will be forwarded confirming each organization's recruiting arrangements.

Literature
We will display your literature in our Career Resource Library for interested candidates to review. This literature will expose you to sophomores and juniors who will be making career decisions and interviewing in the near future. It has been our tradition to emphasize to our students the importance of knowing as much as possible about the organizations with which they will be interviewing before they present themselves as candidates. We would appreciate, therefore, if you would arrange to send us at least 15 copies of relevant literature. We request that your literature arrive at the Center for Career and Pre-Professional Development  at least two weeks prior to your visit.

Luncheon Arrangements
Luncheon arrangements with faculty members are encouraged. This permits discussions about programs and curriculum and their relationship to the job market, as well as giving the interviewer the opportunity to discuss specified students with the faculty member. The Lincoln Room in Seymour Union is recommended for lunch. Numerous fast-food establishments and formal restaurants are available in Galesburg for recruiters planning overnight visits to the campus.

Equal Employment Opportunity
The Center for Career and Pre-Professional Development accords equal opportunity to all placement registrants with regard to sex, race, color, creed, national or ethnic origin, sexual orientation or affectional preference, age, marital status and disability. Organizations visiting the Knox College campus are likewise expected to conform to equal opportunity regulations in their recruitment practices.
