Knox College and the Galesburg Community Foundation are launching an innovative community engagement initiative that will connect Knox graduates and current students with Galesburg area non-profit agencies and entrepreneurial projects.

Brigadier General Mark Martins, Chief Prosecutor of the war crimes trial system reformed by the Military Commissions Act of 2009, will deliver Knox College's 2012 Commencement Address.

Knox College will award honorary degrees to three distinguished individuals at Commencement 2012: Brigadier General Mark S. Martins, Chief Prosecutor of the war crimes trial system; Sir Andrew Davis, Music Director and Principal Conductor of Lyric Opera of Chicago; and Joseph S. Francisco, William E. Moore Distinguished Professor of Physical Chemistry at Purdue University.

In a New York Times op-ed, attorney David Schulz '74 makes the case for why the Guantanamo Bay trials should be open to the public and the press. He recently argued that issue in front of a military judge.

"Graduation," a poem by the famed artist and Knox alumna, is the first work to be featured in a relaunched program promoting the arts.

This year's warm weather disrupted a 50-year tradition of spring prairie burns at Knox College's Green Oaks prairie restoration, according to biology professor Stuart Allison, who is considering holding future burns earlier.

Two retired Knox College presidents, John McCall and Roger Taylor, visited the Knox campus for the installation of Teresa Amott as the 19th president of Knox College.
