With a population of 32,000, Galesburg is a classic prairie city with many of the attractions usually associated with larger cities -- such as a thriving arts scene with the historic Orpheum Theatre, Knox-Galesburg Symphony, Prairie Players Civic Theatre, and Galesburg Civic Art Center.
Because Knox and Galesburg were established at the same time by the same people, it's hard to tell where one ends and the other begins. Our campus is just a few short blocks from the center of town, so students often frequent Galesburg's many restaurants, shops, and coffeehouses. In fact, Galesburg was ranked #2 on The Daily Meal's list of America's Best Small Towns for Food 2013!
And through community-based learning, civic engagement, volunteer activities, and internships, students and faculty are actively engaged in the social, political, and cultural life of Galesburg.
