Travel Information

Getting to Knox is easy. Knox College is a convenient drive from most Midwestern states and is well-served by Amtrak with eight trains daily, four eastbound and four westbound. Chicago, just 200 miles to the northeast, and St. Louis, just 200 miles south, are major transportation hubs, with air and rail links to just about anywhere in the country and the world. Questions? By Air

Galesburg and Knox College are served by two regional airports -- Peoria International Airport and Quad City International Airport in Moline -- each 40 minutes from the campus. Most major airlines service these two airports including:

For those traveling to Galesburg via charter or private planes, you can fly directly into the Galesburg Municipal Airport, where local operations are provided by Jet Air, Inc.

By Train

Galesburg is served by eight daily Amtrak trains operating on four national and regional routes:

  • The California Zephyr
    Runs from San Francisco through Reno, Salt Lake City, Denver, Omaha, and Galesburg on its way to Chicago.

  • The Southwest Chief
    Runs from Los Angeles through Albuquerque, Las Vegas, Kansas City, and Galesburg on its way to Chicago.
  • The Illinois Zephyr
    Runs from Galesburg to Chicago in the morning and retuns to Galesburg in the evening.

  • The Carl Sandburg
    Runs from Chicago to Galesburg in the morning and returns to Chicago in the evening.

You can use Chicago's rail and air routes to get to Knox from anywhere in the world. It is an easy connection to Chicago's Union Station from both O'Hare and Midway airports. Chicago Transit Authority rapid transit trains (the "El") provide frequent service on the Blue Line and Orange Line trains -- just blocks away from Union Station.

By Bus
