As you research funding sources, don't overlook your high school counseling office, which may have a scholarship databank. And be sure to ask if your parents' employers or houses of worship offer scholarships for which you may be eligible.

College Board's Scholarship Search helps you locate scholarships to match your talents and background. In addition, College Board's main Web site can help you plan for college, from applying to financing.

College Illinois provides the latest from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission on college selection, financial aid sources, and financing options.

FastWeb offers a scholarship search engine and access to thousands of scholarships for students who complete its online questionnaire. You must make an application for each scholarship to receive consideration.

FAFSA on the Web allows you and your parents to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid online. To complete the FAFSA online, both you and one parent (if you are dependent) will need to provide a Federal Student Aid PIN. Your PIN serves as your electronic signature and provides access to your personal federal financial aid records. To obtain a PIN, visit the PIN Web site.

Studentloans.gov provides information on Federal Direct loans for students and parents.

Finaid provides general information about financial aid -- scholarships, grants, loans, and work. This site has online calculators to help you anticipate college costs, aid eligibility, and loan payments.

Savingforcollege.com is a guide to multiple college savings strategies, featuring comprehensive information about the tax advantages of various state and private savings and prepaid tuition plans (529s).

Student Aid on the Web is the official Web site of the U.S. Department of Education designed to help students learn about federal financial aid programs.
