Preparing for the Program

The Knox program in Besançon is open to juniors and seniors of any academic major.The Knox program in Besançon is open to juniors and seniors of any academic major. Knox also welcomes students from other colleges and universities to apply. Each year approximately 25% of students in Knox study abroad programs hail from colleges across the nation. Recent participants have come from colleges such as Dartmouth, Barnard, Swarthmore, Smith and Tufts University.

To be eligible to participate in the program a student must have:

  • a good academic record and
  • a minimum of two 200-level French courses or equivalent

Additional prerequisites:

  • The participants must agree to abide by all regulations of the program, which are under the jurisdiction of the Resident Director.
  • For students under 21, participation in the program requires written consent from a parent or guardian.

Knox College introduces KnoxReads, an online book discussion. The first selection is "Rock the Casbah: Rage and Rebellion across the Islamic World," by writer and foreign policy analyst Robin Wright, who visits Knox on February 28.
