What do biomechanics and a Wii Fit have in common? One of our Hughes Summer Scholars researched the impact of force on the knee's articular cartilage, and she developed a way to write computer code using a Wii Fit balance board and gaming system.

Hughes Summer Scholars conduct research on campus with a Math and Natural Science (MNS) faculty member and receive a $3,200 stipend with additional funding for housing, meals, and research supplies.
Hughes Medical Apprentices conduct research at one of five nearby research universities, and a $3,400 stipend is provided with an additional meal and housing allowance.
