Nursing

Working in healthcare requires the application of scientific knowledge to patient care. Given the range of duties undertaken by nurses, a broad-based undergraduate liberal arts education is ideal preparation for a nursing career.

Nursing Program

Knox-Rush Cooperative Program

Knox offers a cooperative program with Rush University College of Nursing. Through this program, you can receive a bachelor's degree from Knox and a master's degree from Rush, which is the equivalent of Clinical Nursing Leader (CNL) training found at other institutions.

To take advantage of this program, you must complete the required preparatory courses for nursing study while at Knox -- including biology, chemistry, and psychology -- while also gaining a broad background in the humanities, arts, and social sciences.

Upon completion of your bachelor's degree -- with a cumulative and science GPA of 3.0 and a recommendation from the Dean of the College -- you will have a guaranteed slot in the Graduate Entry Master's program at Rush, which culminates in a master's degree following seven quarters of study. GRE scores are required if cumulative GPA is less than 3.25. Program alumni will typically sit for both RN and CNL certification upon the completion of training.
