Requirements for the Major/Minor

Requirements for the major
9 credits as follows:

  • PS 101, PS 210, PS 220 and one from PS 245, PS 341 or PS 342
  • PS 230, preferably completed by the end of the sophomore year
  • One credit within the department chosen from the following designated research courses: PS 223, 227, 229, 234, 301, 306, 309, 310, 311, 314, 321, 323, 326, and 333
  • Three additional credits of electives within the department.
  • At least two of the courses counted toward the major must be at the 300-level
  • STAT 200


Requirements for the minor in American Politics
5 credits as follows:

  • PS 101
  • 4 courses chosen from the following with at least two at the 300-level: PS 229, PS 230, PS 234, PS 235, PS 240, PS 241, PS 245, PS 260, PS 305, PS 306, PS 307, PS 308, PS 309, PS 310, PS 311, PS 362, and PS 363.


Requirements for the minor in Comparative Politics
5 credits as follows:

  • PS 220
  • 4 courses chosen from the following with at least two at the 300 level: PS 210, PS 222, PS 223, PS 227, PS 301, PS 312, PS 314, PS 321, PS 322, PS 323, PS 326, and PS 333.
