Professional work in health care requires the application of scientific knowledge to patient care. Given the range of duties undertaken by nurses in the workplace, a broad-based undergraduate liberal arts education is ideal preparation for a nursing career.
Knox offers a cooperative program with Rush University School of Nursing. Through this program, you can receive a Bachelor's of Arts degree from Knox College and a Master's degree from Rush.
Knox-Rush Program in Nursing
To take advantage of the Knox-Rush cooperative program, you must complete a selection of required preparatory courses for nursing study while an undergraduate at Knox, taking courses in biology, chemistry, and psychology while also gaining a broad background in the humanities, arts, and social sciences.
Upon the completion of your Bachelor of Arts degree from Knox with a cumulative and science GPA of 3.0 and a recommendation from the Dean of the College, you will have a guaranteed slot in the Graduate Entry Master's program at Rush, which culminates in the receipt of a Master's degree following seven quarters of study. This degree from Rush is the equivalent of Clinical Nursing Leader (CNL) training found at other institutions. Program alumni will typically sit for both RN and CNL certification upon the completion of training.
