Being sustainable requires us to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future humans and other species to meet their own needs. By fostering a culture of sustainability, we at Knox accept our responsibility to configure our educational programs, institutional and social structures, and economic actions to preserve the ecosystems of the Earth.
The 2007 Strategic Plan for Knox College was amended to include sustainability objectives with the support of the Knox College Board of Trustees. The following year, a Sustainability Task Force was appointed to improve awareness of environmental issues on campus and to help facilitate new and ongoing initiatives to improve the College's operations. The Green Fee Fund was established to assist students in creating their own environmental initiatives.
Being GreenLearning more about the environment and how to be a good steward to the Earth is everyone's responsibility. And everyone can pitch in. In this section you'll find resources on sustainability and environmental issues, and tips on how you can improve your carbon footprint while at Knox. |
