Making Things

The Knox community is known to be a creative one. While many students focus on writing, art, music, crafting, and other creative activities in their own time, Making Things is a craft club that offers a place for these students to come together in the act of creating.

Goals

  • To focus on creative reuse and sustainability
    • Many things that can be recycled or thrown in the trash can also be used to make art. At Knox, it is not uncommon to see old bottles and jars painted and hung up on trees, or soda cans turned into ash trays and stage decorations for outside festivals. With Making Things, you'll learn how to think differently about the trash around you and how to make it into something new.
  • To offer a place for creation of many different kinds
  • To foster an environment for students who doubt their artistic ability to explore and grow in their creativity
  • To be a resource for supplies and ideas

The club regularly works with other organizations on campus such as Hillel Club, Alliance for Peaceful Actions, and WVKC on craft projects related to their mission.

Making Things meets regularly for people to share their ideas, make crafts, and enjoy a fun, creative environment.
