Japanese Club

The Japanese Club at Knox welcomes everyone to explore the culture and traditions of Japan. The club also works closely with members of the Asian Student Association to promote cooperation and understanding between all Asian cultural clubs on campus and their members. By solidifying relations, the Asian culture of the Knox campus is able to become more vibrant.

Goals

  • Increase the understanding of Japanese culture in the Knox community
  • To organize forums and discuss Japanese culture as it relates to American culture
  • To integrate international Japanese students with domestic Knox students and vice versa

Japanese Club also never fails to bring exciting events to campus, whether in the arts or politics or basic Japanese traditions.

Past events

  • Ohanami
    • In an effort to bring Japan to Knox, the club hosted this celebration of spring with a Japanese meal, flowers, and traditional drinks.
  • Isshin Daiko
    • While Taiko is a specific type of unmetered Japanese drum music, the musical group Isshin Daiko used the traditional style to create a big sound on the Knox campus.
  • Participation in the annual International Fair, including making Japanese cuisine and performing a traditional Japanese dance
Whether you're familiar with Japanese culture or are eager to learn, Japanese Club is the place for you. The club meets regularly and is open to everyone.
