Knox College's chapter of Phi Beta Kappa (PBK) was chartered in 1916, the first at an undergraduate liberal arts college in Illinois. Knox's Delta chapter is also the fourth-oldest chapter in Illinois.
Out of more than 3,000 colleges and universities in the U.S., fewer than 300 have PBK chapters.
Membership
Membership is based on academic achievement. Most inductees are seniors; a limited number of especially outstanding students may be elected at the end of their junior year.
