Chess Club

The Knox College Chess Club aims to challenge the traditional view of chess as a long, boring game and turn chess into not only a fast-paced battle, but also a strategic mental exercise.
With Chess Club, you can participate in a number of exciting events, including:
- the annual St. Valentine's Day Blitz Massacre Tournament during winter term
- the Knox College Champions Tournament during spring term
- chess nights and meetings to play, learn about, and watch games of chess.
The club's functions extend off campus as well. In the past, the Knox Chess Club has been invited to tournaments at the University of Illinois and has held intercollegiate matches with Bradley University, the Greater Peoria Chess Association, and Beloit College.
To better your strategic development in the game of chess, or to start learning the basics, attend a meeting and start playing.
