Updating Computer Systems

Instructions for faculty and staff

Over the next several weeks, we will begin the process of rolling out a network security application to faculty and staff computer systems. We have already deployed this application (Bradford Campus Manager) on the wireless network, and have the student population of computers, handheld devices, and game machines under this umbrella. Many of you may have encountered this already if you have a wireless laptop (or other device) you use on campus that is not part of the domain (don't worry if you aren't sure what this means).

In advance of the application rollout, please, update your computer. Knowing how to do this manually will allow you to do this over the next few weeks at your convenience instead of doing it in one, possibly large, chunk.

Updating Your Computer

NOTE: This entire process can take some time. It may also require several reboots. For this reason it may take multiple sessions of updating. You may want to start them at the end of your work day or before your lunch break. Your computer will need to remain on.

To protect your Windows PC while it is left on you may "lock it" by clicking the control, alt, delete keys simultaneously and then click lock computer. To unlock your computer you will again use the control, alt, delete keys and enter your password.

If you have questions please call the Computer Center Help Desk at x7700.
