The Center for Teaching and Learning provides both writing instruction and peer tutorials. The motto of the Center staff and tutors who work there is "Nurturing Excellence." Excellence refers to the high expectations the Center has for all Knox students, and nurturing to how that excellence is achieved. The Center for Teaching and Learning is part of the Office of Student Development. |
Writer's Block
Need help writing an FP paper? How about with using research to substantiate or develop an argument in your history, ed. studies, theatre, or other paper? Or maybe you wish to work regularly with a knowledgeable peer to improve some other aspect of your writing. CTL writing tutors are thoroughly trained and equipped to assist you at any point in your writing, from the development of good thesis statements to the composition of even the most advanced writing.
Writer's Block is located in the Center for Teaching and Learning and is available in the Fall Term, often on a walk-in basis, Monday through Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and in the winter and spring terms, again often on a walk-in basis, Monday through Friday, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Red Room
Struggling with molecular theory, derivatives of polynomials, or calculating opportunity costs? Or maybe you just want to double check a homework problem. The Red Room tutor tables are staffed by well-trained peer tutors in economics, mathematics, modern languages, writing, and the sciences, and are located in Seymour Library, always on a walk-in basis, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights, from 7 to 9:00 p.m.
