Started in 1899, the men's basketball team is one of the most storied programs in Knox history. The Prairie Fire basketball program feature an up-tempo, wide-open offense that is paired with a man-to-man defensive style that works to disrupt opposing offenses.

On Saturday, January 30, 2010 the Prairie Fire men's and women's basketball teams will take on longtime rival Monmouth College for Basketball Homecoming. We will be honoring the 1974-1975 Midwest Conference Championship Men’s Basketball team and their coach Harley Knosher. In addition, Coach Purlee, his Prairie Fire basketball staff and Coach Vershaw and his Fighting Scots basketball staff will be wearing sneakers with their usual game attire to show support for the American Cancer Society's work to save lives from Cancer.
The Prairie Fire men's basketball team lost to Lawrence University on Saturday February 6, 75-67. Knox battled all the way back from an early double digit lead to tie the game at 39 going into half. The Vikings would counter with a 13-6 run late in the second half, and the Prairie Fire would come no closer than within five points of the Vikings lead. Tanner Colson led the way for Knox, as he had 16 points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals. Joe Kozak contributed 14 points and seven rebounds, while Ben Wetherbee had 14 points off the bench for the Prairie Fire.
17 Knox alumni came back to compete against the 2009 Prairie Fire team.

Due to the blizzard conditions to our west, the men's and women's basketball games against Grinnell College have been canceled altogether until a later date.
