
Playing an aggressive style of small-ball, the Prairie Fire baseball team is one of the most exciting teams to watch at Knox College. Coached by 1992 Knox graduate Jami Isaacson, the team employs plenty of hit-and-run and straight-steal tactics to disrupt the opposing defense.

On June 18, 2010, Sam Magnuson was selected by the Midwest Conference as the male recipient of the NCAA Division III Conference Sportsmanship Award. Magnuson, a native of Altona, Illinois was a four year letter winner for the Prairie Fire Baseball team, graduating magna cum-laude in June.
This spring, 21 Prairie Fire Student-Athletes were named to the Academic All-Midwest Conference Team. In order for a student-athlete to be honored the athlete must be a sophomore, junior or senior and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 while lettering in any of the Midwest Conference spring sports.
On May 26, 2010 the Knox College Athletic Department honored the Prairie Fire Student-Athletes of Knox's 21 teams and presented the annual Athletic Department Awards. Thank you again to our student-athletes for their time and dedication to Prairie Fire Athletics.

Knox committed three errors that allowed four unearned runs to score which proved to be the difference, as they lost game 2 to Illinois College 7-6. Knox starter Colin Davis (1-6) took the loss, pitching four innings, allowing three earned runs on nine hits. The Prairie Fire collected 10 hits, with Sam Magnuson (2 for 3), Matt Lee (2 for 3), and Dexter Brown (2 for 3) all having multi-hit games for the Prairie Fire. Joey Graeff went 1 for 4 with a 2 run triple that momentarily gave Knox the lead.

The 2009-10 edition of the Knox Prairie Fire baseball team has one goal for this season; "to be Midwest Conference champs". Offensively, the Prairie Fire will play an aggressive style of small-ball, utilizing their wealth of team-speed. Coming off an eleven game road trip in Florida, in which the Prairie Fire went 6-5, Knox is eager to begin Midwest Conference play.
The Knox College Hitting League is a competitive and instructional way to keep your hitting and baseball skills sharp for the upcoming season. League members will compete against like age groups in a seasonal long hitting competition. In addition, instruction will be offered by the Knox College coaching staff, current Knox players and local coaches.
It's that time of the season again for the Prairie Fire baseball team- the conference schedule is in full swing, and conference tournament berths can be won or lost in just one weekend. On Saturday April 25 2009 Knox kept itself in the driver's seat for a conference tournament berth- taking two of two from rival and south division leading Monmouth College.
