Knox College vs. University of Dubuque

Knox 0, University of Dubuque 3 - October 31, 2009
The Prairie Fire ended their 2009 season, losing in straight sets to the University of Dubuque; 13-25, 10-25, and 30-32.  The Prairie Fire were led by Kelly Ricketts (13 kills), Karen Frost (15 assists/8 digs) and Lisa Blagg (12 digs).  The Prairie Fire would like to thank seniors Karen Frost, Greta Egge and Christina Davis for four years of hard work and dedication.

Knox 0, Beloit 3 - October 24, 2009
The Prairie Fire volleyball team lost to Beloit College in three today. Game scores were 15-25, 10-25, 13-25. Top performers for the Prairie Fire were senior Karen Frost (The Woodlands, TX - The Woodlands), sophomore Kelly Ricketts (Galesburg, IL - Galesburg) and sophomore Lisa Blagg (Winthrop Harbor, IL- Zion Benton Township). Frost had 18 kills for the Prairie Fire and one dig. Ricketts had 13 kills and five digs and Blagg had one assist and 11 digs.

The Prairie Fire will travel to Grinnell, IA on Wednesday to take on the Grinnell Pioneers.

Knox 3, Eureka 1 - October 21, 2009

The Prairie Fire Volleyball team defeated the Eureka College Red Devils 3-1. It was especially exciting for the seniors who played their last home match in Memorial Gymnasium on Tim Heimann court tonight. Before the game seniors #1 Karen Frost (The Woodlands, TX - The Woodlands), #12 Greta Egge (St. Paul, MN - St. Paul Academy and Summit School), and #15 Christina Davis (Dolton, IL - Thornridge) were honored for their years of service to the Prairie Fire. Senior Karen Frost was 23 assists away from moving from 4th overall to 3rd overall in All-time Knox record books in assists before the game. Tonight she had 39 assists, successfully securing her place at 3rd overall.

After honoring the seniors the match began. Eureka came out strong winning the first game 13-25 but the Prairie Fire battled back winning the second game 25-13. The Prairie Fire then proceeded to take the third and fourth match with scores of 25-21 and 25-20. Frost led the team with 36 assists, 12 digs and two kills. Sophomore Kelly Ricketts (Galesburg, IL - Galesburg) led the team in kills (20) and digs (23).

The Prairie Fire will travel to Beloit, WI to take on the Beloit College Buccaneers at 1pm on Saturday October 24. Saturday is also the Knox Homecoming football game with kickoff at 1pm. Unfortunately all other teams are away or not competing.

Knox College 1, Monmouth College 3 - October 15, 2009
The Monmouth College Fighting Scots defeated the Knox College Prairie Fire in their rivalry volleyball showdown, winning in 4 sets, 24-26, 25-18, 25-11, and 25-23. The Prairie Fire jumped out to a quick lead, taking the first set in extra frames.

However, Knox was unable to keep momentum, losing the next two sets decisively. The Prairie Fire looked as if they were going to send the match into a fifth game, leading 23-21, but the Prairie Fire were unable to hold on, losing 25-23. Leading the way for Knox was once again Kelly Ricketts, who had 17 kills and 13 digs. Karen Frost contributed 33 assists and 13 digs, and Lisa Blagg had 21 digs for the Prairie Fire.

Knox College 2, Ripon College 3 - October 10, 2009
The Prairie Fire volleyball team came out strong as they defeated Ripon College in the first two games of the match 26-24 and 25-18. Ripon was 8-12 overall but 2-1 in Midwest Conference play putting them in fifth place so they were exciting victories for Knox.

Unfortunately for the Prairie Fire they were unable to maintain their momentum as they dropped the next three games 25-14, 25-15 and the tiebreaker 15-11 to put the final score at Knox 2, Ripon 3.
Senior Karen Frost (The Woodlands, TX - The Woodlands) and sophomore Kelly Ricketts (Galesburg, IL - Galesburg) led the team. Frost had 39 assists, seven digs and one kill while Ricketts had 27 kills and 10 digs.

The Prairie Fire will travel to Lake Forest College on Tuesday, October 13. The game will begin at 7 p.m.

Knox 0, Carroll Univeristy 3 - October 9, 2009
Knox College dropped their volleyball match to Carroll University by a score of 3-0. Carroll won the three sets by a score of 25-19, 25-17, and 25-17. The Prairie Fire were unable to get anything past the front line of the Pioneers, who utilized their height advantage to the tune of 11 blocks, 9 of which came assisted. Kelly Ricketts continued to lead the way for the Prairie Fire, as she had 13 kills and 3 digs. Lisa Blagg also contributed 15 digs, and Karen Frost had 19 assists for the Prairie Fire. Freshman Natalee Young was also a bright spot for the Prairie Fire, as she was second on the team in kills with 5, and dug out 2 serves.

Knox College 0, St. Norbert College 3 - October 2, 2009
The Prairie Fire lost in 3 sets on Friday to St. Norbert College, 12-25, 21-25, and 9-25. While it appeared the Prairie Fire had begun to put things together in the 2nd set, battling to a 19-19 tie deep into the set, Norbert would capitalize on two attack errors to take a commanding 21-19 lead and eventually take the set 25-21. Leading hte way for the Prairie Fire was once again Kelly Ricketts, who led the team with 9 kills and added 4 digs. Lisa Blagg led the team with 13 digs from her libero position, and Chirstina Davis added 3 kills and finished second on the team with 12 digs. Karen Frost, from her setter position, had 16 of 17 assists for the Prairie Fire.

Knox College 1, Illinois College 3 - September 29, 2009
Knox College lost to Illinois College in Tuesday night volleyball, 3-1. Illinois College won the first two sets handedly, 25-17, 25-18, while Knox mounted a comeback, taking the third set 25-20. However, it was too much too late for the Prairie Fire, as they could not hold off the Lady Blues in the 4th set, who won 25-22. The Lady Blues were led in kills by Courtney Sweatman (11 kills) and were led in digs by Brittany Childress (19). The Prairie Fire were led once again by Kelly Ricketts, who had a volleyball double-double, 23 kills and 10 digs. Karen Frost led the way with 27 assists and Christina Davis had 5 kills and 11 digs.

12 p.m. - Coe vs. Knox (Coe Won 25-13, 25-15, 25-13)

Friday, September 25:
4 p.m. - Coe vs. Knox (Coe Won 21-25, 25-13, 25-17, 25-16)
6 p.m. - Faith Baptist vs. Knox (Knox Won 24-25, 25-22, 25-15, 16-25, 15-9)

Knox College 0, Greenville College 3 - September 19, 2009
The Prairie Fire lost at home in 3 sets to Greenville College, by a score of 23-25, 17-25, and 18-25. The Prairie Fire were once again led by sophomore Kelly Ricketts (Galesburg, IL- Galesburg HS), who led the team with 13 kills and added seven digs. Karen Frost tallied 23 assists, and fellow senior Christina Davis added two kills and led the team with 10 digs. The Prairie Fire will go on a four game road trip, taking on Coe College on September 25, 2009 at Cedar Rapids, IA.

Knox College 1, Principia College 3 - September 17, 2009
The Prairie Fire lost to Principia College in four sets, by a score of 21-25, 26-24, 16-25, and 17-25. The Prairie Fire looked to have taken momentum after a hard fought battle to win the second set in extra frames, but the constant attack of Principia's front line was too much in the end for the Prairie Fire. Knox was once again led by Kelly Ricketts (Galesburg,IL- Galesburg) who had 19 kills and 4 digs. Karen Frost (The Woodlands, TX- The Woodlands) added 29 assists and 8 digs, while Lisa Blagg (Winthrop Harbor, IL- Zion Benton Township HS) added 18 digs for the Prairie Fire.


Knox College 1, Edgewood College 3 - September 12, 2009

In the second game of the day the Prairie Fire volleyball team took on Edgewood College. The Prairie Fire lost the first set by two in a very close score of 26-24. The Prairie Fire then came back to win the second set 25-23 but lost the third 18-25. The fourth set went back and forth eventually ending the Edgewood's favor 29-31.

Kelly Ricketts (Galesburg, IL - Galesburg) once again led the Prairie Fire this time with 19 kills and eight digs. Karen Frost recorded a team high for the day of 31 assists. She also had one dig. Lisa Blagg (Winthrop Harbor, IL- Zion Benton Township) led in digs with 10. Blagg also recorded an assist.

The Prairie Fire will return from the road to take on Principia College at home on September 17th with a match start time of 7 p.m.

Knox College 0, Clarke College 3 - September 12, 2009
The Prairie Fire volleyball team lost in their first game of the day to Clarke College 0-3. Top performers for the Prairie Fire were sophomore Kelly Ricketts (Galesburg, IL - Galesburg), senior Karen Frost (The Woodlands, TX - The Woodlands) and sophomore Lisa Blagg (Winthrop Harbor, IL- Zion Benton Township). Ricketts led the team in kills (9), and was second on the team in digs (7). She also recorded one assist. Frost led the team in assists with 12 while recording two digs. Blagg led the team in digs (10) and had one assist.

Knox College 3, MacMurray College 0
- September 8, 2009
After a two hour break the Prairie Fire came back out to take on the MacMurray Highlanders. The Prairie Fire came out strong from the start as they won the first set 15-25 and kept their momentum going as they won the second and third sets 15-25, and 10-25 respectively.

The Prairie Fire were again led by sophomore Kelly Ricketts (Galesburg, IL - Galesburg), senior Karen Frost (The Woodlands, TX - The Woodlands), and first year Brittany Wisniewski (Park Ridge, IL - Maine South). Ricketts had 13 kills, and eight digs while Frost had two kills, 22 assists and two digs. Wisniewski had two digs, two assists and five digs.

The Prairie Fire will travel to Dubuque, IA this weekend to take on Clarke College at 1 p.m. and Edgewood College at 3 p.m.

Knox College vs. Lincoln Christian University - September 8, 2009 - 3:30 pm
The Prairie Fire volleyball team dropped their first home contest of the season to Lincoln Christian College 25-19, 25-18, 25-18. Leading the Prairie Fire was sophomore Kelly Ricketts (Galesburg, IL - Galesburg) who had 14 kills, and three digs. Senior Karen Frost (The Woodlands, TX - The Woodlands) had two digs, led the team in assists (19) and had two digs. Senior Christina Davis (Dolton, IL - Thornridge) led the Prairie Fire in digs with seven. She also had one kill, and one assist.

Knox College vs. Cornell College - September 5, 2009 - 2 p.m.
The Prairie Fire volleyball team dropped their last match of the Illinois College Blue Brawl to Cornell College 22-25, 15-25, 13-25. The Prairie Fire came out strong in the first set but were unable to secure the lead or regain the next two sets.

Leading the Prairie Fire was sophomore Lisa Blagg (Winthrop Harbor, IL- Zion Benton Township), sophomore Kelly Ricketts (Galesburg, IL - Galesburg), senior Karen Frost (The Woodlands, TX - The Woodlands) and senior Christina Davis (Dolton, IL - Thornridge). Blagg led the team in digs (17), Ricketts led the team in kills (5) and had six digs. Frost had nine assists and six digs while Davis had three kills, one assist and eight digs.

The Prairie Fire will play at home at 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 08, 2009 in their home opener.

Knox College vs. University of Dubuque - September 5, 2009 - 8 a.m.
The Prairie Fire lost to the University of Dubuque in their first game of that day 10-25, 19-25, 13-25. Leading the Prairie Fire were seniors Karen Frost (The Woodlands, TX - The Woodlands) and Christina Davis (Dolton, IL - Thornridge) and sophomore Kelly Ricketts (Galesburg, IL - Galesburg). Frost had 13 assists and seven digs while Davis had five kills, and seven digs. Ricketts led the team in kills (6) and had five digs. Sophomore Lisa Blagg (Winthrop Harbor, IL - Zion Benton) and first year Brittany Wisniewski (Park Ridge - Maine South) also added to the effort as Blagg had one assist and 10 digs and Wisniewski had two kills, one assist and 11 digs.

Knox College vs. Greenville College - September 4, 2009 - 7 p.m.
The Prairie Fire volleyball team fell to Greenville in a very close match going 27-29, 20-25, 21-25. Leading the Prairie Fire was sophomore Kelly Ricketts (Galesburg, IL - Galesburg) who had 18 kills, and nine digs. Senior captain Karen Frost (The Woodlands, TX - The Woodlands) led the team in assists (26) and recorded nine digs. First year Brittany Wisniewski (Park Ridge, IL - Maine South) led the team in digs with 11. Wisniewski also had two kills, and two assists.

Knox College vs. Westminster College - September 4, 2009 - 5 p.m.
The Prairie Fire volleyball team took on Westminster College in their first game of the Illinois College Blue Brawl. The Prairie Fire won the first and second sets 25-21 and 25-20 before falling 21-25, 8-25 and 13-15 to end the match.

Leading the Prairie Fire were sophomore Kelly Ricketts (Galesburg, IL - Galesburg), senior Karen Frost (The Woodlands, TX - The Woodlands), senior Greta Egge (St. Paul, MN - St. Paul Academy and Summit School), senior Christina Davis (Dolton, IL - Thornridge), and sophomore Lisa Blagg (Winthrop Harbor, IL - Zion Benton Township). Ricketts had 22 kills, and 10 digs while Frost had two kills, 43 assists, and eight digs. Second on the team in kills was Egge who recorded 10 kills and eight digs. Davis had nine kills, two assists and 14 digs while Blagg had one kill, one assist and led the team with 18 digs.

Knox College vs. Eureka College - September 1, 2009 - 7 p.m.
The Prairie Fire won their first game of the 2009 season in dramatic fashion, using all five sets to put away the Eureka Red Devils by a score of 25-14, 25-23, 21-25, 13-25, and 15-8. The Prairie Fire was led up front by Kelly Ricketts and Christina Davis. Ricketts showed her versatility, leading the team with 26 kills and chipping in 13 digs, while Davis did the same, recording 9 kills along with leading the team with 14 digs. Senior Karen Frost, who last year recorded 49 assists in an October 20th 5 game win at Eureka College, set up her teammates to the tune of 41 assists in the win for the Prairie Fire.

Knox College vs. Rose Hulman Institute of Technology - September 1, 2009 - 3 p.m.
The Prairie Fire opened their 2009 season on September 1st, by falling in three sets to the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology 18-25, 16-25, and 17-25. The Prairie Fire was led by sophomore newcomer Kelly Ricketts as she led the team in kills (18) and digs (8). Karen Frost led the team in assists with 24, while Lisa Blagg and Brittany Wisniewski both contributed 8 digs apiece.
