Eligibility

The Knox Program in Buenos Aires, Argentina is open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors of any academic major.The Knox Program in Buenos Aires is open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors of any academic major. Knox also welcomes students from other colleges and universities to apply. Each year approximately 25 percent of students in Knox study abroad programs hail from colleges across the nation. Recent participants have come from colleges such as Dartmouth, Barnard, Swarthmore, Smith, and Tufts University.

To be eligible to participate in the program a student must have:

  • the equivalent of two years of college Spanish,
  • have taken at least one introductory course in the social sciences (e.g., Economics, Political Science, History, Sociology, Anthropology), and
  • background coursework on the history, government, or politics of Latin America is highly recommended.

Additional prerequisities:

  • The participants must agree to abide by the regulations of the program, which are under the jurisdiction of the Resident Director.
  • For students under 21, participation in the program requires written consent from a parent or guardian.

Knox College is one of the top liberal arts colleges in the nation for Fulbright Scholar grants awarded to faculty during 2009-2010. Karen Kampwirth is studying feminism and politics at the University of Buenos Aires, and Jeremy Day O'Connell is conducting musicology and linguistics research at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.

Music Concerts and Recitals

The Knox-Sandburg Community Concert Band, Knox Wind Ensemble, and individual music students perform in concert and recital, November 13 through 17 at Knox College.
