How to Apply

The Knox College Program in Besançon

The Knox program in Besançon is open to juniors and seniors of any academic major. Knox also welcomes students from other colleges and universities to apply. Each year approximately 25 percent of students in Knox study abroad programs hail from colleges across the nation. Recent participants have come from colleges such as Dartmouth, Barnard, Swarthmore, Smith and Tufts University.

Prerequisites:Porte Rivotte

  • A good academic record
  • A minimum of two 200-level French courses or equivalent
  • Agreement to abide by all regulations of the program, as well as all instructions from the Resident Director; violations can result in immediate termination of a student's participation in the program
  • For students under 21, participation in the program requires written consent from a parent or guardian.

Application (a three part process):

  • On-Line Application Form
    You may submit the On-line Application Form (PDF) electronically or mail a printed copy to the address below. You may also print out the blank form to complete by hand. Please keep a copy of the completed application for your records.
  • Official Transcript
    Please request that your college or university registrar send a copy of your official transcript to the address below.
  • Three Letters of Recommendation
    You will need to submit letters of recommendation from your academic advisor, and two college-level language teachers. Please print out three copies of the blank recommendation form for them to complete and send to the address below.

Knox Among Top Colleges for Fulbright Scholar Awards in 2009-10

Knox College is one of the top liberal arts colleges in the nation for Fulbright Scholar grants awarded to faculty during 2009-2010. Karen Kampwirth is studying feminism and politics at the University of Buenos Aires, and Jeremy Day O'Connell is conducting musicology and linguistics research at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.

Music Concerts and Recitals

The Knox-Sandburg Community Concert Band, Knox Wind Ensemble, and individual music students perform in concert and recital, November 13 through 17 at Knox College.
