Preparing for the Program

The Knox program in Besançon is open to juniors and seniors of any academic major.The Knox program in Besançon is open to juniors and seniors of any academic major. Knox also welcomes students from other colleges and universities to apply. Each year approximately 25 percent of students in Knox study abroad programs hail from colleges across the nation. Recent participants have come from colleges such as Dartmouth, Barnard, Swarthmore, Smith and Tufts University.

To be eligible to participate in the program a student must have:

  • a good academic record and
  • a minimum of two 200-level French courses or equivalent

Additional prerequisites:

  • The participants must agree to abide by all regulations of the program, which are under the jurisdiction of the Resident Director.
  • For students under 21, participation in the program requires written consent from a parent or guardian.

Knox Among Top Colleges for Fulbright Scholar Awards in 2009-10

Knox College is one of the top liberal arts colleges in the nation for Fulbright Scholar grants awarded to faculty during 2009-2010. Karen Kampwirth is studying feminism and politics at the University of Buenos Aires, and Jeremy Day O'Connell is conducting musicology and linguistics research at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.

Music Concerts and Recitals

The Knox-Sandburg Community Concert Band, Knox Wind Ensemble, and individual music students perform in concert and recital, November 13 through 17 at Knox College.
