Supporting Success in Business

You'll have access to a number of resources that will help you prepare for a career in business. As a student in Knox College's business and management program, you'll have access to a number of resources that will help you prepare for a career in business, as well as for pursuing graduate-level education.

Business Advisory Council
One of the most important resources available to business and management students is the Business Advisory Council, a group of experienced leaders in business who dedicate their time to consult with Knox students interested in entering the field upon graduation. The council consists of Knox alumni -- CEO's, vice presidents, managing directors, controllers, consultants, and financial advisors -- who are experts in their areas of business and management.

Members of the council -- including Margery Rosen Kraus '67, President and Chief Executive Office of APCO Worldwide Inc.; James Kilts '70, former President and CEO of The Gillette Company; and Dushan Petrovich '74, President of the William Wrigley Jr. Company -- come to campus to:

  • speak to classes and give presentations,
  • provide individual advising sessions with students,
  • and offer internship opportunities with their companies.

See a list of the business leaders that comprise the Business Advisory Council. Knox also has an international network of alumni who are willing to help Knox students find the best career placements in business.

The Center for Career and Pre-Professional Development
This invaluable resource helps business and management students find internships that best fit their academic and professional goals. In fact, the center employs an Internship Coordinator dedicated to assisting students in finding meaningful experiential learning opportunities. The center maintains resources on:

  • graduate and professional schools,
  • internships,
  • training programs
  • and summer jobs.

The center also:

  • coordinates recruitment visits by graduate schools and corporations,
  • organizes trips to job fairs,
  • and provides credential service.

One-on-One Advising
Each Knox student has a faculty adviser who, along with the staff in the Center for Career and Pre-Professional Development, will help you assess your career goals, interests and plans for the future. You'll also find help in making informed career choices from:

  • workshops and seminars,
  • speakers from the business community,
  • and one-on-one networking sessions with Knox graduates.
