Clive Hamilton Clive Hamilton
Lecture: "Growth Fetishism and the Climate Crisis" (April 21, 2009)
Hamilton is the former director of the Australia Institute think tank and Australian National University Professor of Public Ethics

John de Graaf John de Graaf
Lecture: "Time and Sustainability" (April 14, 2009)
De Graff is the author of Affluenza: The All Consuming Epidemic, a book about the environmental consequences of over-consumption, and two related documentaries, Affluenza and Escape from Affluenza spoke to the Knox community about

Sandra Steingraber Sandra Steingraber
Lecture: "Sustainability on College Campuses" (Oct. 8, 2008)
Steingraber is the author of Living Downstream, a widely-known book on the links between the environment and health.

Nathan Engstrom Nathan Engstrom
Lecture: "Sustainability: The Ultimate Liberal Art" (Sept. 20, 2007)
Engstrom is coordinator of the Office of Sustainability at Oberlin College.


Green Events

SustainabilityGreen Solutions Expo
A culture of sustainability was created through The Green Solutions Expo 2009, where local companies and organizations showed how they're doing things in a more "environmentally friendly" way. Full story

Equinox Picnic
Spread the word on campus about sustainability through an EquiKnox picnic. Full story

Prairie Plot
Bricks were added to the campus prairie plot to help clearly define where the prairie ends and the lawn begins. The bricks will help keep non-native species from invading the prairie, ultimately helping the prairie plants establish themselves in the plot.

Community Garden
The Community Garden was harvested and celebrated through a Fall Festival. Full story
