Visiting Knox and Galesburg

Knox College and Galesburg are located just 200 miles (320 km) from Chicago and St. Louis. Getting here is easy by car (only 45 minutes from Peoria and the Quad Cities), Amtrak train, bus, or plane (both Peoria and the Quad Cities have international airports).

What should you do once you get here?

  • If you're a history buff, check out Old Main (a Lincoln-Douglas Debate site and listed on the National Historic Register), the Underground Railroad Freedom Center in the former Knox County Jail, the Galesburg Railroad Museum, and the Carl Sandburg Birthplace.
  • If you enjoy the arts, there's the Ford Center for the Fine Arts on campus, plus the Orpheum Theatre, the Children's Museum, the Civic Art Center, and more in Galesburg.
  • If you like to browse around, don't miss the Historic Seminary Street shops (pictured) and the annual Spoon River scenic drive.
